The Annex neighbourhood
Established in the late 1800s, the Annex is located in a close proximity to University of Toronto, and many of its residents are faculty staff, university students, as well as prominent artists and business people. It is a predominantly residential neighbourhood, with treed streets (most of them one-way), and stately Victorian and Edwardian homes. Many of the century homes have undergone luxury renovations.
A small number of apartment buildings are found in the area as well, six of these were designed by Uno Prii, and are among his most interesting and sculptural works.
Residents of the Annex are also fortunate to have two subway lines available to them - the Bloor line is running on the south periphery, and the Spadina line is bisecting the neighbourhood. Bloor Street is its main shopping destination, and it is vibrant with a variety of stores, art galleries, cafes, restaurants and clubs.
Numerous shops and restaurants serving this vibrant neighbourhood are listed on theannex.com. Some of these addresses connect to websites, and most have store front photos - you can go for a virtual stroll along the street.
